The Benefits of Chiropractic
Question:
Do chiropractic treatments hurt?
Answer: Not usually. The situation and condition of your
spine determines the comfort level of your treatment. Most
of the time, patients experience relief of pain shortly
after their chiropractic treatment. Most of my patients
describe a sense of wellbeing after an adjustment(chiropractic
treatment).
Question:
Is chiropractic a lasting "fix" for my condition,
or will I have to keep coming back for treatment?
Answer: In the treatment of any health condition, I am trying
to fix the problem, and fortunately we do get lasting results.
But, the strength of chiropractic lies in the arena of health
maintenance, or, wellness care. Chiropractic care, by its
very nature, is best utilized not only for symptom and condition
relief, but for its health optimizing benefits. Chiropractic
is a health enhancing treatment to stabilize the nervous
system and to create a climate for the highest levels of
body function.
Question: Does chiropractic treat disease?
Answer: The cause of many disease processes is subluxation.
Chiropractors and chiropractic treats subluxation. We treat
to reduce and eliminate subluxation, the source of
nerve irritation, loss of function within the body, which
leads to disease.
Question: If I feel better after an adjustment,
do I have to return?
Answer: Yes! You must get adequate care to restore proper
spinal alignment and ensure stability of alignment. An often
use analogy is to compare symptoms to the tip of the iceberg.
The underlying problem lies below the surface, as is true
with the iceberg, and this underlying problem needs to be
resolved.
Question:
Once I begin to receive adjustments to my spine, will
I have to keep it up the rest of my life?
Answer: This is a totally personal choice. Many chiropractic
patients continue care with their chiropractor to maintain
a state of wellness afforded by practicing good spinal hygiene.
Me and my family and family of patients choose to keep optimum
spinal alignment an integral part of our health and wellness
plan. Just like eating well, exercising, supplementing with
vitamins.
Question: How long will it take before the pain
goes away?
Answer: This is a tough question and varies from person to
person. Some patients feel immediate symptomatic relief. Other
patients take several treatments before they notice improvement.
Still others feel sore and stiff after their first treatment
or two, or three. I feel very comfortable in telling everyone
that I only accept those patients I truly feel can ultimately
benefit from chiropractic care.
